Puppy Raising

Puppy Raising is a great option if you are looking for someone else to help train your pup. Puppies can be very overwhelming and there are lots of reasons to choose puppy raising. We are here to help new owners wanting a good pet dog , breeders & owners wanting a sport prospects!

Our puppy raising program is unique because your pup is living in our home with our own dogs and family.  We work on house behaviors like potty & crate training, their name, greeting people, relaxation, and much more all throughout the day. In addition, we also provide multiple formal training sessions to work on a variety of manners.

Because dogs do best with consistency, part of our program includes transitional training for you. At the end of your dog's stay, we will show you how to implement the training at home and will follow up with text, call or zoom lessons to continue to go over any questions.

  • Name & Recalls: Building consistency with their name in distracting areas. Recall w/ light distractions, on leash recalls from play with dogs.
  • Engagement/Focus: Eye contact outside, in new environments & adding distractions
  • Sit & Down: Fading lure from positions & adding more duration. Begin working on stay/moving away.
  • Body Awareness: Fading lure on spin/twist. Beginning to offer stepping on objects. Consistently pivoting/moving rear.
  • Potty & Crate Training: Working up to 30+ minutes in the house before going out to potty (very dog dependent). Crating quietly in different rooms in the house, able & unable to see you/dogs moving around.
  • House manners: Choosing to relax or self entertain when loose. Continuing on with kitchen manners. Sleeping though the night (crated) 9pm-6am.
  • Staying on a bed & relaxation in the house: Relaxing on a bed quietly working up to being untied. Intro to sending to the bed
  • Loose Leash Walking Skills: Fading lure into heel & introducing pivot block to learn position. Good understanding of choose to heel

3rd Month

4th Month - Consistency from 3rd Month

4th Month - Consistency from 3rd Month

  • Name & Recalls; 100% knows their name and looks to you the first time they are called. Recalling out of playtime with other dogs, away from distractions.
  • Engagement/Focus: Eye Contact w/ high distractions (dogs playing, life going by etc.) When they see a distraction (dog, person, car, bike) will look to you.
  • Sit & Down: Lure's completely faded. Pup able to do sit/down by verbal cue only. Continuing to build on duration/distance. Able to start taking steps away.
  • Body Awareness: Continuing to fade lure on spin/twist. Stepping on new objects and moving feet confidently. Pivoting into heel position.
  • Potty & Crate Training: Starting to signal that they need to potty. (Pacing, walking to door, etc. Each dog is different) Ideally able to hold 30 minutes loose in the house. Still needing supervision. Crating quietly in high arousal environment
  • House manners: Learning the pattern of the house. If I am in the kitchen, on my laptop, reading etc. I expect pups to start to pattern that means it is relaxation/self entertain time.
  • Staying on a bed & relaxation in the house: Relaxing on a bed quietly untied. Building excitement from distractions.
  • Loose Leash Walking Skills: Able to walk in a heel position and offer eye contact/check in's regularly.
  • Socialization: Continuing to go on field trips to pet friendly stores & build confidence in new environments.
  • Off Leash Foundations: We will begin using a long line outside more & reward for engagement and check ins. This allows pups to have more freedom to explore, with the safety of the leash still. We will begin going on "off leash" (long lined) hikes and to fields to add distractions as they progress.
